Sara Aibar is a post-doctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Computational Biology in the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Brain and Disease Research, in Belgium.
Sara’s research focuses on the application of machine learning techniques to address biomedical questions, and developing new bioinformatic tools that facilitate extracting the full potential from state-of-the-art genomics data.
During her recent work, in the lab of Stein Aerts, she developed SCENIC, a computational method that allows to infer gene regulatory networks from single-cell transcriptomic data; and more recently she has been working on the integration of single-cell transcriptomics and epigenomics to unravel the regulatory programs underlaying neuronal identity.
