Thomas Schaffter is a Senior Bioinformatics & Software Engineer in the Computational Oncology group at Sage Bionetworks. He has applied his experience in data analysis, programming (full stack), cloud computing and project management in the development of new technologies that enable researchers to leverage highly sensitive health information in a HIPAA compliant manner. Thomas is leading the organization of highly-visible, model-to-data (https://lnkd.in/evSdcuZ) scientific challenges including the Digital Mammography DREAM Challenge and the EHR DREAM Challenges series: Patient Mortality DREAM Challenge and COVID-19 DREAM Challenge. Thomas received his MS in microengineering and his PhD in biotechnology and bioengineering from the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. He then completed a postdoctoral research at IBM New York with the guidance of Gustavo Stolovitzky.
